WAAT Weekly Updates - 1/3/2021

This is Mrs. Cox, principal of WAAT. Here is the beginning of the semester updates.

Monday, January 4th and Tuesday, January 5th are Teachers’ Workdays. There will be no classes for students.

Wednesday, January 6th is the first day of the second semester. Classes will be delivered online through Google Meet from January 6th to January 22nd. As of today, based on the board's December decision, students will have the option to enter the building for instruction two days a week starting on January 25th. More information will be provided as we get closer to this date.

College classes will begin on Thursday, January 7th. Students will need to check Moodle for syllabus details and to make sure they complete the enrollment verification quiz. Students will receive their textbooks and codes when they come to campus on Friday. Students in grades 10-13 will have virtual class for their college courses as well. They will need to look at their class syllabi for the times. These classes are mandatory. No exceptions.

For now, students will begin their school day at 10:30 a.m. Students will need to log in for the entire class period this semester. The data from first semester showed that many students were not successful with the shortened periods. So, all students will be required to remain in their virtual classroom for the full 75 minutes of instruction.

The schedule will go as follows:

10:30 -  11:45 - 1st Block

11:45 - 12:30 - Lunch Break

12:30 - 1:45 - 2nd Block

2:00 - 3:15 - 3rd Block

3:30 - 5:00 - 4th Block or College Courses

Some students' schedules may vary.

Students will have 15 minute breaks between each class and a 30 minute lunch break.

Teachers will be sending out emails with their Google Classroom codes. Students will need to check their emails for this information.

Textbooks and report cards will be issued from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 8th. It is important that every student comes to get his or her materials. Students also need to return any textbooks, library books, or calculators they may have in their possession.

If you have any questions, please call the school at 252-265-4038.

Have an awesome evening!
