This is Mrs. Cox calling with important information about the end of the school year. Please listen to the entire message or review the email that is sent to your email with this call.
Our last day of school is May 14, 2020. Students should receive their report cards by the last week in this month via mail.
Student Textbook Drop-Off
Students will be allowed to drop off their textbooks from this semester on the following dates:
Monday, May 18, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- 9th and 10th Grade Students
Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- 11th and Returning 12th Grade Students
If you cannot make it on your designated date, please select a date and time that works best for you and your child.
Students will need to bring their high school and college textbooks and school-issued calculators. Students can also pay any outstanding fines or fees. If you need to know if your child owes anything, call the school on May 14th or May 15th.
Students will be allowed to keep their laptops and chargers over the summer.
Students can also get the belongings from their lockers.
During the Drop-Off event, no student or parent will be allowed to leave their vehicles. A WAAT staff member will go to each car to collect any materials or to issue items from each student’s locker.
Summer Class Registration
Students have been signed up for summer classes based on their program of study or the availability to take needed classes. Mrs. Bennett sent an email to the group of students that are going to be taking a class this summer. If you have any questions, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Textbooks and codes will be issued at the textbook drop-off, if we already have them in stock. If the materials are not in at the time your child drops off his or her materials, we will schedule another time for each student to pick-up these items from the school.
Summer Classes will be from June 1, 2020 to July 30, 2020.
Graduating Senior VIP Event
For our graduating seniors, we will have a special VIP event for them to drop off their materials at the school on May 22nd at 12:30 p.m. During this time, staff members will come to their vehicles to collect their laptops, chargers, textbooks, school-issued calculators, or any other materials they have in their possession. This will also be the time for them to pay any outstanding fees or fines. Remember, all fees and fines must be paid to participate in the graduation ceremony. We will also retrieve any items from their lockers. On that day, we will also hand out any cap and gown orders we have at the school. This event is mandatory for all graduating seniors.
We will have a drive-in graduation ceremony for our graduating seniors on May 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. All graduating seniors will need to be on campus parked in the bus parking lot by 10:00 a.m. More details will be given to these students in the coming weeks. Only individuals with tickets will be able to attend this event.
Because the Yearbook facility was closed down due to the Stay-at-Home order, the yearbooks will not arrive until June 2020. Once the yearbooks are delivered, we will create a plan for how to get yearbooks to families. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, we will have a few on-site to sell for $30. Feel free to call the school to get on the waiting list to receive a book. This is a first-come, first-served process.
Internships are postponed until further notice. At this time, our community partners cannot have non-employees on their campuses and we have not been given permission from district leadership to resume normal school operations. Our hopes are to resume our plan in the fall.
As I receive more information about the upcoming school year, I will definitely share it.
If you have any questions, feel free to call the school at 252-265-4038.
Have a great summer!
